On Tuesday, December 7, 2021, June Rose Nilsson, loving wife, and mother of five children, passed away at age 89.
June was born June 28, 1932, in Stoneham MA, to Ernest and Florence (Murphy) Belfonte. September 11, 1953, she married Kenneth Malcom Nilsson. They raised two sons, Robert, and Richard, and three daughters Linda, Nancy, and Elaine.
June was a 1950 graduate of Stoneham High School. She was devoted to her family and followed her husband's career in the United States Navy from 1953-1974 across the states and southward. From Girl Scouts to referee, she single handedly managed a family of six while her husband was out to sea serving his country. She enjoyed bowling leagues, home improvement projects and family outings across Hurricane Ridge, Washington, Isle of Palms beach, SC and golfing when her husband was home. Among many skills, June was an accomplished seamstress, exceptionally skilled at needlework, and a homemaker. After her last child had grown to a young adult, she moved those skills to her own Yarn Shop in Saratoga Springs, NY and managed two stores, The Tie Shop and the Danskin Shop at the Pyramid Mall, in Wilton, NY.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, and son, Richard, father, Ernest, mother, Florence, brother, Stanley. She is survived by her four children, Robert Nilsson and wife Patricia of Athens GA., Linda Romero, and Nancy Nilsson, both of Port Saint Lucie FL, Elaine Nilsson (late husband Billy Pridgeon) of Suffolk VA, brother Earnest, of Largo FL., grandchildren Dustin Romero of CA, Courtney Hall and Corinne Fisher both of OK.
