Saratoga Springs, NY - Katherine "Katie" E. Merton of South Franklin Street, passed away on Tuesday (Nov. 2, 2010) at Albany Medical Center Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 33. Born on November 25, 1976 in Saratoga Springs, NY, daughter of Karen L. (Delaney) DeCoteau of Saratoga Springs and Richard L. DeCoteau of Greenfield Center. Katie was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, class of 1994. She was a manager at Panera Bread in Saratoga Springs, a job she loved and where she created many friends. To her family and friends she will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and caring. Katie was a true lover of animals. She dedicated her life to the care and love of her children. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her beloved children, Miles Andrew Merton (13) and Mia Andrea Merton (8) and their father Bryan A. Merton; a special niece, Jourdan DeCoteau; her sisters, Michelle DeCoteau and her daughter Carley Jean and Jennifer DeCoteau and her son Judah Aronson and her very special maternal grandmother, Ellen Delaney, all of Saratoga Springs. She is also survived by her aunt Kathy Smith of Burlington, VT as well as several other aunts, uncles and cousins. Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 3:30pm on Saturday (Nov. 6, 2010) at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). A memorial service will follow at 3:30pm being celebrated by Chaplain Sandra Leboeuf at the funeral home.
