IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Katherine M.
Waldron
May 20, 1938 – August 29, 2025
Saratoga Springs – Katherine (Kay) Marie Loman Waldron, 87, of Maple Ave., former longtime native of Mechanicville, died on Friday, August 29th, 2025 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born May 20, 1938, in Troy, NY, the second child of the late Harold and Ida Bothwell Loman. Kay was a 1955 graduate of Mechanicville High School and earned her Bachelor Degree in Education from her beloved College of St. Rose in 1960.
Kay was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She selflessly supported and encouraged all of her children's pursuits throughout their lives. She always made room at the table and welcomed all into her home. Mom made our home the heart for celebrating holidays, birthdays, and many other special occasions with family and friends. She also was a caring support for her brothers and brother-in-law from a young age. She cherished lifelong friendships with those she met at St. Rose and those she worked alongside during her 30+ year teaching career. Kay also enjoyed time in her flower gardens. While bedridden, she was able to admire her backyard, nature outside her window, the various birds that came to her feeders and the weekly fresh cut flowers surrounding her.
Kay was a dedicated and loved first grade teacher at Mechanicville Elementary School for over 25 years. Over the years, former students would often express their thanks and admiration of their time in her classroom.
Faith was the foundation of her life. She was a communicant of The Church of St. Peter where she was actively involved, supporting many ministries. She enjoyed the prayer group where she met many wonderful friends. Prior to moving to Saratoga, she was an active member of Assumption-St. Paul parish community in Mechanicville where she helped initiate the "Children's Church" during Sunday Liturgy, a Eucharistic minister and a member of the church choir. In 2011 she was honored by Bishop Hubbard for her dedication and service to the church.
Survivors include her children, Jeffery (Gerard), John (Mary), Suzanne (Brian), James (Kristen), Joseph (Sarah); grandchildren, Sebastian, Tanner, Nicholas, Carrie, Shauna, Mark, great-grandchildren Mila and Cale, siblings, Thomas (Evie), Paul (Chris) and David, sister-in-laws Elzora Conway, Carol Waldron, Jeanne Waldron and brother-in-law Earl (Heidi), many nieces and nephews, Goddaughter Rachel, her other 'son' Patrick (Kristin) and her other 'grandchildren' Christopher, Nicholas and Patrick.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her loving husband, Terry (9/5/2022), sister and her husband Jane Anne and Giles Russell, and in-laws Hawley (Betty), David (Rita), Frank (Nancy), Ray, Thomas (Patricia), Richard, and Carolyn (Louis) Herman.
