Obituary

Wilton, NY- Kathryn (Kathy) Mary Fogarty, 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 26th, at Saratoga Hospital with her loving family by her side. Although she made the Saratoga Springs area her home for almost 50 years, Kathy was always proud of her South Troy roots. She was born to Richard and Mary Seaver on October 26, 1948. Kathy held her hometown close to her heart. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and Russell Sage College, where she earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in education.

Upon graduating from Russell Sage, Kathy found her calling as a teacher and spent over 40 years in education, teaching kindergarten through sixth grade in various districts. She spent most of her career with the Saratoga Springs City School District. Kathy had a special way of seeing the unique strengths in each student. Her kindness and compassion touched thousands of lives and helped her students believe in themselves. She especially enjoyed working as a producer for 14 years in the annual Maple Avenue Music Club productions.

Outside the classroom, Kathy enjoyed cooking, reading, and spending time with her close friends. She also volunteered at the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Kathy met Jack Fogarty in 1966, beginning a love story that lasted 60 years. They married in 1970 and were never apart. Kathy was most proud of being a mother and grandmother, and she always beamed with pride when sharing news about her three children and six grandchildren.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Jack Fogarty; her children: Beth (Harrison) Braxton of Saratoga Springs, NY, Michael (Tanya) Fogarty of Halfmoon, NY and Matthew (Ashley Edwards) Fogarty of Corinth, NY; her grandchildren: Will Braxton, Jack Braxton, Clarie Braxton, Maddox Fogarty, Emma Fogarty, and Lola Fogarty.

Relatives and friends may call from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, Thursday, March 5, 2026 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 (518-584-5373).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am, of Friday, March 6th at St. Clement’s Church, 231 Lake Ave. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, West Ave.

The family would like to thank Jerell Broadhead and Donna Roundtree for providing Kathy with loving care and friendship during her final weeks. They are also grateful to the staff, nurses, and doctors from Saratoga Hospital, Wesley Rehabilitation Center, and the Rubin Dialysis Center for their compassionate care of Kathy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kathy’s name to Type 1 Diabetes research at Breakthrough T1D (www.breakthrought1d.org) - a cause that held a special place in her heart.
