Porter Corners, NY - Kenneth P. Sherman passed away suddenly Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012 at his home. He was 86. Born on March 17, 1925 in Corinth, he was the son of the late Major and Dora Perry Sherman. Ken was a lifelong area resident and worked in maintenance for International Paper Co. in Corinth for 44 years. After retirement he operated a small engine repair shop out of his home. He served in the Navy as a door gunner during World War II. Ken was a devoted husband, father grandfather and great-grandfather. He was very proud of his children and loved all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ken enjoyed cooking, gardening and was a gifted woodworker. In addition to his parents, Ken was predeceased by his first wife Beverly J. McKnight who died in 1990 and his brother Frank S. (Gladys)Sherman. He then married Anna Wadsley in 1996. Survivors include his children, Rev. Deborah ( Michael )Estey of Rutland, VT, Dale (Tammy)Sherman of Saratoga Springs, Dawn (Bill)Baker of Fountain Inn, SC, Denise Baker of Greenville, SC, Douglas (Geri)Sherman of Saratoga Springs and Darlene (Stephen)Singer of Ballston Spa; three step-children, Donna ODonnell of Saratoga Springs, Diane Quigley of Cornwall on the Hudson, Robert Wadsley, Jr. of Porter Corners; one brother, Major Sherman of Vancouver, Washington, a niece and three nephews in Virginia, twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends may call from 10 to 12noon Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373).
