Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY – Ken passed away after a valiant five-year fight with throat cancer. He truly fit the definition of a warrior in every way. Everyone who knew Ken was aware of his immense strength.

Kenneth Everett Woolley Jr. born in Saratoga Springs, NY on March 6, 1967, the son of Rebecca A. (Priest) Woolley and the late to Kenneth Woolley Sr. After graduating from Saratoga High School in 1985, he then joined the US Army.

Ken proudly served as a Transportation Specialist in the United States Army, beginning with the Big Red One at Fort Riley, Kansas, and continuing with many units of the United States Army Reserve based in New York State. Ken joined General Foods after his active-duty service. Ken was summoned back into service and was sent to Desert Storm while working at General Foods and serving in the US Army Reserves. During Desert Storm, Ken served with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, earning the Army Achievement Award and the National Defense Service Medal. Ken returned from the Gulf, but with General Foods closing, he returned to transportation work as a truck driver for Stewart's Shops. Ken relocated once more and joined the Lowe's organization.

Ken is survived by his mother, Rebecca Woolley; three children, Jessica Curry (Tom), Julia Woolley, and Keegan Barry. He was a proud Grandfather/Papa to James "Tommy" Curry, Brooke Curry, Blake Curry, and Dakota Woolley; sister, Katrina Keohane (Jim); brother, Edward Woolley (Julie); sister, Helen Sarro (Jim); many nephews, nieces and friends. He is predeceased by his father, Kenneth E Woolley Sr.

Ken was devoted to his community and was a proud member of Porter Corners Volunteer Fire Department, Greenfield Center Volunteer Fire Department, and Union Volunteer Fire Company #2 of Ballston Spa. Ken was an apparatus driver, an interior firefighter, and a dedicated Brother Firefighter to all. As a veteran, Ken proudly supported and served as a member of the American Legion of both Saratoga and Ballston Spa, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Ballston Spa and the Italian American War Veterans in Saratoga Springs.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the following: Dr. John Mongan (Ginny and Leslie), Saratoga Hospice (Joyce and Emma), Ribbon Cafe, Floyd Warriors (Lisa), and Union Fire Company #2, who has always had his "Six".

Ken will be remembered as a devoted son, father, grandfather/papa, brother, uncle, friend, and veteran.

Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, August 27, 2023 from 3:00pm – 7:00pm at the William J. Burke & Sons Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

A funeral home service will be held Monday, August 28, 2023 at 9:30am followed by an interment at 12:00pm at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871 with Rev. Tom Ryberg officiating.

A celebration of life will be held following the burial at Union Fire Company #2, 319 Milton Ave, Ballston Spa, NY all are welcome to share stories and fellowship.
