Rexford, NY - Kirk Richard Haner passed away quietly in his sleep, early Friday morning, Dec. 16, 2016. He was 56 years old.

Kirk was a happy man. He loved his family dearly and would do anything for his children. They were everything to him and he was exactly where he wanted to be. Every time Kirk greeted someone they could hear the joy in his voice. He was always cheerful and saw each new day as an adventure.

Kirk loved to build with his hands. There was nothing he couldn't fix and he never stopped tinkering. He became an engineer, graduating from Manhattan College in 1981. He worked for many years as an engineer until striking out on his own as a self-employed general contractor and building manager.

Kirk leaves behind so many people who loved him, all were tremendously fortunate to have been a part of his life. Survivors include his children, Justin, Chester, Kristi and Holly; parents, Richard and Barbara; sisters, Linda, Nanci, Judy, and Karen; brothers-in-law, Dave, Steve and Tim; daughters-in-law, Caitlin and Krista; the mother of his children, Peggy and his long-time girlfriend, Susan.

Relatives and friends may call from 9:15 to 10am Wedneday, Dec. 21, 2016 at the historic Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am by the Rev. Thomas H. Chevalier, pastor, with a reception immediately following.  Kirk's wishes were to be buried in Chatham Rural Cemetery, where many Haners have gone before him.

Donations may be made in Kirk's memory to Habitat for Humanity Capital District, 325 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12205, where he was planning to volunteer in retirement.
