Obituary

Greenfield Center, NY- Larry A. Warner, of Greenfield Center passed away June 7, 2026 after a very intense struggle through life after suffering a massive heart attack and stroke at the beginning of COVID. He was born to the late John and Florence Warner of Dannemora, NY on March 1, 1950. Larry was the oldest of 7- brothers: Terry, Barry and Harry, along with sisters: Gail, Lynn, and Patty.

He went to Paul Smith's College for Forestry. Larry found his bride, Jan, in 1971 and the two have been each other's best friend for 53 years! Through the years he worked as a land surveyor, and then retired from NYS as a respected Correctional Officer. He, and Jan, have two Children- Teresa (Paul) Kitchen (who gave them their Grandkids- Alyssa, Anne Marie, Paul, and John), and Nathan (Lisa) Warner.

Larry absolutely loved anything outdoors and in the woods- especially elk and whitetail hunting. He would do anything to be in there- he passed his love for such especially to his wife and son. He cherished his time with family and the mountains- it was his "happy place". There wasn't a tree he couldn't identify, cut down, split, heat his home or camp, and then he would oftentimes plant new to make the full circle.

Larry loved his Lord- and it was proven through his excitement to go to heaven at death. He will be remembered as a Christian, a hero, a leader, a faithful husband, a son, a father, a brother, a friend, a mentor, a survivor, a fighter, a straight shooter- figuratively and literally.

The man had a very rough/tough exterior, but his heart was soft and sweet to everyone around him in death. To many, he was larger than life- 10' tall and bullet proof.

Relatives and friends may call from 9:30am to 11:00am, Thursday, June 11, 2026 at the Clifton Park Community Church (516 Moe Rd, Clifton Park, NY 12065). A funeral service will follow directly at 11:00am. Larry strongly requested that everyone would be able to join the family for a continued celebration after the service at the Mohawk River County Club, 847 Riverview Rd, Rexford, NY 12148.

Burial will take place at 10am, Friday, June 12, 2026 at Greenfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Larry’s name to the Greenfield Fire Department (P.O. Box 103, Greenfield Center, NY 12833) or the Corinth Rescue Squad/EMS (101 Sherman Ave, Corinth, NY 12822).
