Greenfield Center, NY - Laurence R. Canell, Jr, 42, passed away unexpectedly while traveling.

Born in Saratoga Springs, NY on March 7, 1974, he was the son of Laurence Sr. and Suzanne Canell.  Larry graduated from Ballston Spa High School and received his Associate's Degree at Hudson Valley Community College.  He began his career as a Personal Fitness Trainer at the YMCA Saratoga, and was a devoted employee there for 25 years. He worked at Turbine Services, Ltd. as a Trainer and was a beloved employee there for over 20 years.  He also trained at World Gym Saratoga and Fitness Artist. For over 10 years, Larry was affiliated with Perrywinkles Fine Jewelry as a Distribution Supervisor, and for the past few years he also worked at Online Services, Inc. He was highly respected and extremely knowledgeable in both the fitness industry and in all his other endeavors.  His strongest motivation in life was not only helping people physically, but intellectually and spiritually as well.

Larry was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Saratoga and regularly attended Sunday services.  He was also a member of the Albany G.K. Chesterton Society for several years.  Larry enjoyed nature and the outdoors, he had an extensive toy collection, and he enjoyed working on his cars. His beloved dogs, BeauBo and Midas, were always close by! Larry was readily available to lend a helping hand to friends, family, neighbors, and strangers.  He touched so many lives with his kindness, love, compassion, and his understanding of people.

Larry is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Dorothy Canell; his maternal grandparents, John and Emily Craig; and his father-in-law, Philip Everson.

Survivors include his wife, Paula and son, Cole of Greenfield Center; his parents, Laurence Sr. and Suzanne Canell of Ballston Spa; his sister, Melissa (Scott) DuBois and niece, Kelly and nephew, Keith of Malta; several aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, and friends.

Relatives and friends may call from 3pm to 7pm Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373).

Funeral services will be conducted at 11am Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. by Pastors Adam C. Wiegand and Ethan Luhman of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Larry's son, Cole Philip Canell.
