Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY- Lawrence "Rich Hickey" passed peacefully on October 13, 2025. He was born on January 21, 1949, in Saratoga Springs, NY, the son of the late, John and Corinne Hickey.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1972, with tours of duty in Vietnam and Thailand. As a veteran, he was a proud member of the Patriot Guard Riders of New York, honoring fellow veterans at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Rich was a skilled carpenter who worked with custom home builders as well as running his own successful remodeling business based in Clifton Park. His family home held a special place in his heart, and he personally completed all the improvements, updates, and additions over the 35 years he lived there.

He was a member of the Shenendehowa Methodist Church, the North Eastern Woodworkers Association, and various golf leagues throughout his life. Rich enjoyed camping, spending time outdoors with his family, and riding his motorcycle. His yearly family vacations in Ocean Park Maine provided many lasting memories. Rich loved the companionship of dogs and is survived by his beloved dog Wilson. In retirement, he took up playing the banjo—even crafting one by hand—and traveled with his wife, Marge, to Italy, The Canadian Rockies, Myrtle Beach, Florida and bluegrass festivals.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers, Jim and Joe. Rich is survived by his wife, Marge, and children: Scott (Kristine) Hickey, Kevin (Tara) Hickey, and Erika Hickey. He is also survived by his sisters, Cecilia Campbell and Julia (Tom) Pettit, sisters-in-law Marge Hickey and Maureen Hickey as well as many nieces and nephews. His grandchildren include Logan, Liam, Caleb, Joshua, and Fedora.
