Gansevoort, NY Lillian Patricia Houde of Saratoga Heritage, passed away (May 23, 2010) at The Wesley, with her family by her side. She was 80 years old. Born on Oct. 28th, 1929 in Richmond Hill, NY, Lillian was the daughter of the late Raymond and Lillian (Weckerle) Browne and raised her family in Deer Park, Long Island. Interested and involved in politics on LI, Lillian nearly defeated the incumbent by less than 20 votes while raising two children. After living on LI for 24 years, Lillian and her retired NYFD husband George moved the family north to Loon Lake where she enjoyed hiking the high peaks and cross country skiing her beloved Adirondacks woods. A 13 year cancer survivor, she became a source of encouragement to anyone dealing with this illness. Lillian enjoyed horse racing and could be seen trackside having breakfast and watching the horses workout. She cheered on the Red Sox and doated on her granddaughter Hailey who shares her amazing smile and warm-hearted ways. In addition to her parents, Lillian was predeceased by her sister Karen and son Douglas. Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, George E. Houde, whom she married on May 27th 1950; one daughter, Patricia Ann Houde (Hekhuis), of West Islip; one son, Scott E. Houde of Ballston Lake, one sister, Joan Gribbin of West Palm Beach, Fl., 2 grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call from 11:00am to noon on Saturday, (June 12th, 2010) at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday in the funeral home following the visitation.
