Obituary

Linda McNeary passed away July 21, 2024. She was born and raised in Ravena, New York. As a child, she attended the one-room Little Red Schoolhouse, which is now a museum in Coeymans Hollow.  She graduated from Ravena Coeymans Selkirk High School in 1962 and then graduated from Mildred Elly Business School. After working for the New York State Thruway for several years, she chose to stay at home to raise her two children, Kevin and Maureen. They have many fond memories from those years. She worked as a secretary at Saratoga Hospital and Saratoga ARC, both of which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Linda and her beloved husband of 42 years, Jack McNeary, enjoyed traveling together, including annual trips to Ogunquit, Maine, and Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. She cherished those memories with her family.

She is survived by two children, Kevin (Jennifer) McNeary of New Hampshire and Maureen (Joseph) Gaug of Rexford, and seven grandchildren, Brandon, Gianna, Julian, Megan, Liam, Kieran, and Molly. She was the great-grandmother to Isla Capri.

She was an avid painter throughout her life, especially fond of watercolors. Her watercolor paintings have been sold at several local art exhibitions. She loved music and played acoustic guitar in her younger years. She was very close to her family and friends and had a very active social life. This included being a member of Saratoga Senior Citizens and the Saratoga Red Hat Society.

Towards the end of Linda's life, she battled her illness with strong determination in order to meet her first great-grandchild. Linda was delighted to meet her two days before her death, and the experience was a great source of joy for her. In battling her illness, Linda demonstrated remarkable strength and determination, inspiring her friends and family. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was generous with both her time and talents. She forever changed our hearts, and we will always cherish the wonderful memories she left us.

We want to thank the nurses and physicians at NYOH and the Apheresis Unit at Albany Medical Center for the wonderful care they provided for our mother.  Their compassion and encouragement meant the world to her.
