Lois Arlene Whelan, 87, peacefully passed away at her home in Gansevoort, New York, on May 28th, 2023 with her daughters by her side.

Lois was born on June 27, 1935 in Yonkers, New York the daughter of the late Louis and Bertha Sneider.

Following her high school graduation, she began her career as a medical secretary and administrator. Her employment at St. Joseph's Hospital led her to a career at Westchester County Medical Center, where she was chosen to help initiate the following specialty departments as Administrative Assistant: Renal and Hemodialysis, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Burn Unit and Infectious Diseases.

Lois married John (Jack) Whelan on April, 23 1960, in Yonkers, New York. They started their family in Ossining, New York and then moved to Pleasantville, New York. Lois was a devoted mother and lived the best years of their lives in the community of Pleasantville. Lois and Jack enjoyed many weekends and vacations skiing in the northeast. Lois devoted her free time to her passions of gardening, sewing and quilting.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Roberts); son in law, Paul; granddaughter, Emily; daughter, Barbara; grandson, John who live close by and were able to spend a lot of quality time with her until the end of her peaceful passing.

She is predeceased by her older sisters, Gertrude (Puglia) and Barbara (Baer).

Lois will be laid to rest with her husband on what would have been her 88th birthday. There will be a service at 2:00pm on June 27, 2023, at the Gerald B.H. Soloman Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
