Saratoga Springs - Loretta V. Filkins, 89, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones on April 20, 2024. She was born in Saratoga Springs, NY on April 10, 1935 the daughter of the late Otto and Margret (Levo) Manson.

In 1953, at 18 years old, Loretta married Paul R Filkins Sr. Loretta and Paul went on to have 5 children, 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was also a loving sister, aunt, and cousin. With a heart as big as the ocean, Loretta's kindness knew no bounds.

Known for her unwavering care and generosity, Loretta was the glue of her family. In her earlier years, Loretta worked at the bathhouse in the Saratoga Spa State Park. She was a lunchroom mom, taught sewing at the school, and she spent countless hours sewing Barbie doll clothes. Loretta was a devoted parishioner of Saint Peter's church. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often spending her days sitting on her porch in Saratoga Springs, NY, where she resided. Loretta's legacy of compassion will be forever cherished by her family and friends. Her memory will continue to inspire acts of kindness and love for generations to come.

At the wishes of the family Loretta will be placed with Paul at a private burial.

Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Loretta's incredible life at 12:00pm on Monday, July 15, 2024, at the Hathorn Pavilion in Saratoga Spa State Park, Saratoga Springs, NY.
