It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Loretta Ann Garrah, age 87 of the village of Colonie.

She peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 2, 2026, while residing at the Wesley Nursing Home in Saratoga Springs, NY; where she touched and made many friends with her love and humor.

She was born January 11, 1939, the 4th daughter of Charles and Madeline Wood. She was a secretary for her brother in law, Gene Sullivan at Allied Business Equipment and a supervisor for NYS Wage Report and Finance, her boss and director was her brother in law Jack (Gus) Handerhan. Loretta was deeply loved by all who knew her, she was the life of the party, and enjoyed dancing and singing. She loved bowling, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and playing Scrabble with her family.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Joseph Garrah, in January of 1963; sisters Kathleen Sano, Phyllis Sullivan, Carol Handerhan, and Barbara Wood; a beloved nephew Anthony; and her second husband Charles DiPace, Sr.

She is survived by her son, and love of her life, Michael Patrick Garrah and her daughter in law Michelle Leanna Garrah of Corinth, NY; four grandchildren: Michael Patrick Garrah, Jr and his wife Jill of Papillion, NE, Naomi Garrah, Lou (Deming) Garrah, and Lydia Cho and her husband Sunghyun; and her beautiful great grandchildren Easton, Jordan, Logan, and Noah. She is also survived by members of the DiPace family.

Relatives and friends may call from 3:00pm to 4:00pm on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 (518-584-5373). Followed by a funeral home service at 4:00pm.

Burial will take place on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 12:00pm at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, 1389 Central Ave, Colonie, NY 12205.
