South Glens Falls, NY – Louis J. Alonzo, 90, passed away at home on February 21, 2021.
Louis was born June 4, 1930 in Saratoga Springs, NY and was the son of the late Louis and Mariam Duffy Alonzo. After graduating from Saratoga Springs High School, Louis went on to attend Siena and Utica College. He graduating from Utica College, majoring in accounting. A Korean War veteran, Louis served in the United States Navy from 1950-1954. After being honorably discharged, he worked for 6 years at the General Electric in Schenectady before moving on to work for New York State Department of Higher Education, retiring as an accountant after 28 years. A lifetime member of the Gurtler Brothers VFW Post 420 in Saratoga Springs, Louis also served on vestry and as Senior Warden at All Saints Episcopal Church in Round Lake and was a member of the Korean War Veteran's.
Louis leaves behind his wife Constance Johnpeer Alonzo; two brothers, James Alonzo and his wife Sharon and Michael Alonzo and his wife Nicki; one daughter Kristen Miles and her husband David; one stepson Bill Little; two grandchildren, Todd Allen and Liberty Miles; his great-grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with military honors will be held 2:00pm Thursday May 6, 2021 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 20 Duell Road, Schuylerville.
Memorials may be made in Louis' name to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
