Louis Joseph Gilmore, age 90, passed away, peacefully, on Monday, March 9th 2026. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, grew up in Mahopac, NY, and lived in many places, finally settling in Saratoga Springs, NY for the final 25 years of his life.
Louis proudly served his country for 4 years in the US Air Force and went on to earn a degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Cortland. He was an extremely creative and adventurous soul with many passions and innovative inventions like the “Travel Pal” and “Curtain Tamer.” His passion's included flying a plane he once owned, modeling, acting, renovating an old wooden boat, riding motorcycles and horses and traveling.
He was pre deceased by his parents; Howard(Shorty) and Marie(Nan) Gilmore; his brother Howard; his sister, Margaret; his 1st wife, Virginia, who he had 5 children with; his 3rd wife Claudia; his nephew, Patrick; his niece, Jackie and his great granddaughter, Rory.
Louis is survived by his brother, David (Anna) Gilmore; his sister, Maria (John) Guarnieri; his 5 children Kathleen Gilmore, Vincent (MaryJo) Gilmore, Susan(Bob) Wright, Kenneth(Genevieve) Gilmore, Virginia(Tom) Cunningham and his stepdaughter, Lili Karam(Jeremy Scher). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Burial with Military Honors will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd Schuylerville, NY on April 10, 2026 at 1:00PM.
