Saratoga Springs, NY - Louis Rocco, 83, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, May 26, 2009, after a long illness surrounded by his loving family. Born February 12, 1926 in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Frank Rocco and Genevieve Longo. Louis was a proud veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Coast Guard aboard the USS Billy Mitchell. He owned and operated the 41 Bar and Grill for many years. He was an owner, driver and trainer at the Saratoga Harness Track for over 60 years and was honored on his 80th birthday with a race dedicated in his name for his devotion to the sport of harness racing. Survivors include the love of his life and best friend, his wife, Mary Aprilliano Rocco; his two daughters, Genevieve (Wayne) Wilson and Marylou (Marc) Bouthot; a sister, Patricia Boyton; a brother, Donald Rocco and his precious granddaughter, Genevieve O'Keefe; a most recent addition to his beloved family, his great-grandson Ian Patrick; a very special nephew Patrick Rocco and close family friends, John and Debbie Richmond. Louis will always be remembered for his love of family and will live in our hearts forever as a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle and best friend. Words cannot express our deep thanks and gratitude to Dr. Arthur Isenberg for his longtime friendship and support during this difficult time and the wonderful staff of Saratoga Hospice for their care and compassion. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am Friday, May 29, 2009 at The Church of St. Peter's, 241 Broadway by the Rev. Dominic S. Ingemie, pastor.
