Saratoga Springs, NY - Louise Karen McDonnell, 79, died peacefully on Friday, April 6, 2012. Born January 19, 1933 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late William and Emma Hansen. Louise graduated from Grover Cleveland HS with a business degree and held many executive assistant positions with GE, Pfizer and American Express. Louise was married to her husband John for 50 years. Louise and her family relocated from Queens, NY, to Saratoga Springs in 1972. It was in Saratoga where Louise established lifelong friends and memories. She was active in the PTA at Lake Ave. School and Welcome Wagon. She also obtained her real estate license and worked for Realty USA. Louise had a love for animals and became a Peace Officer for the Saratoga County Animal Welfare League where she would investigate animal abuse cases. In addition to that, she maintained a full-time position as a Customer Service Rep. at Jones Intercable which later became Time Warner Cable. Louise was proud of her Danish heritage and was fortunate enough to travel extensively throughout the world with her husband, John. She also enjoyed keeping up with the latest books and movies, watching late night T.V., doing the Jumble, shopping and talking on the phone with friends and family. Most of all, Louise enjoyed meeting new people and had an uncanny knack of never forgetting a name or face. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Friend. She will be greatly missed. Louise is survived by her husband, John, of Saratoga Springs; son Michael Gildea (Sharon) of Saratoga Springs; daughters, Patricia Fernet of Ft. Pierce, FL, Susan Clare (Tim) of Saratoga Springs and son John McDonnell (Tanya) of Baltimore, MD; grandmother of Candace Bousman, Lauren Andreini, Bryan and Sean Fernet, Brigid and Patrick Clare, Liam and Aidan McDonnell; great grandmother of Lilith Fernet, Grace and Will Bousman and Finn and Henry Andreini. She also leaves behind her faithful companion dog Katy. Family and friends are invited to call from 5 to 7pm, April 11, 2012, at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs. Funeral services will follow at 7pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
