Saratoga Springs, NY - Louise LeRoy Shartzer passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Wesley Health Care Center. She was 96. Born on Aug. 18, 1916 in Flushing, NY she was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Johanna (Lion) LeRoy. Louise graduated from New Hartford High School in New Hartford, NY and continued her education at Skidmore College, graduating with a degree in art. She married Norman L. Shartzer from Whitesboro, NY on Nov. 28, 1940. Norman worked for Devine Bros. of New Hartford and Hospital Plan of Utica. After retirement, Louise and her husband spent 20 years in Florida until his death in 1999. At that time Louise moved to Saratoga Springs and spent her remaining years at the Wesley residence. In addition to her parents and her husband, Louise was predeceased by her brother, Frank L. LeRoy and her daughter, Lisa J. Shartzer. Survivors include her son Norman L. (Linda) Shartzer, Jr. of Clifton Park; sisters-in-law Jean F. LeRoy of Cortland, NY and Polly (Glenn) Blunk of Clayville, NY and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Woodlawn Commons and Wesley Health Care Center for the excellent care that was given to Louise and to a good friend, Darlene Kramer, who spent many hours comforting her.
