Obituary

Lucy Theresa (Pastore) Verrigni, beloved mother, caring grandmother and great-grandmother, dedicated sibling, and loyal friend, Lucy (Pastore) Verrigni passed away on June 28, 2010, peacefully at home, after a short illness. She was 83. She was born June 12, 1927 in Ballston Spa, New York, to Ralph Pastore and Frances Pernitozzi Pastore. Lucy attended elementary and high school in Ballston Spa, New York. Lucy began her long career as a hairdresser in Scotia, New York where she worked in her Uncle Charlies hair salon. After gaining her foundational training in the beauty business, she was gainfully employed at the hair salon in the Gideon Putnam Hotel in Saratoga Springs, New York. She moonlighted in a small hair salon located in her family childhood home on South Street in Ballston Spa. In 1950, Lucy met Rocco Verrigni (Rocky) her husband- to-be and after a short courtship, was married on April 16, 1950. She moved to Saratoga Springs where she has resided for 60 years. Lucy continued her hair styling business for many years in home hair salons on Grand Avenue and Sunrise Drive in Saratoga Springs. Lucy had a devoted following of clients in her life-long career as a hair dresser. If they couldnt get to her, she got to them. For the infirmed and clients who couldnt drive, Lucy would do go to their homes to attend to them or include a pickup and drop off service as part of her care. A true Good Samaritan. Lucy was also involved in her husbands and brother-in-laws (Jerry) family business, Rocky & Jerrys Market. The market was a mainstay of small family-owned markets that were located throughout Saratoga Springs in the 1960s. In her later years, Lucy enjoyed the company of her dedicated sister, Marie, and her devoted friend, Liz (Cookie) McKinsey. She spent her leisure time painting landscapes attending ceramics classes, and socializing with friends and family, and doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren . Lucy was a communicant of St. Clements Church in Saratoga Springs. Lucy was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband, Rocky, her brother, Charles Pastore, her mother-in-law, Mamie Levo, her brother-in-law, Jerry Verrigni, and her sister-in-law Anna Verrigni. Her survivors include her two sons, Rocco, Gerard (Debbie Eggleston), both of Saratoga Springs, New York, her two daughters, Philomena Smith (Allen), of Salem, New York, Frances Taylor (Eric) of Bear, Delaware, her sister Marie Hettrich (Pete) and brother Frank Pastore (Carolyn) of Ballston Spa, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
