Saratoga Springs, NY M. Catherine Moore (Kay) passed into the arms of our Lord on August 20, 2011 peacefully at her home on Saratoga Lake, surrounded by loving family and friends. Having been cared for by the staff of the Wesley Community for more than three years, Kay was brought home to the Saratoga lake house she built alongside her husband, and was lovingly cared for by her daughter Mary Ann, her granddaughter Emily and several wonderful caregivers from Community Hospice. Born December 19, 1930 in Archbald Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Mary Ann (Kane) Murphy.Kay graduated from Archbald High School and Saint Thomas commercial school. After employment at Daystrom, she was recruited by IBM Poughkeepsie, where she met and on September 21, 1957, married her husband Robert L. (Bob) Moore. Kays life priorities of marriage and family were clearly evident through her unselfish dedication to raising her 5 children and unwavering love and respect for her husband. Kay remained active in volunteer work including the Consumer Protection Bureau, created by the then District Attorney Albert Rosenblatt and the Save the Bardavon effort in Poughkeepsie. After relocating to Saratoga, Kay became active in the Home Delivered Meal program until her illness prevented continuation. Kay was pre-deceased by Bob eight months earlier, and in addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by sisters Agnes Murphy and Hilda Hunt and two brothers, Francis and James Murphy. Survivors include her three sons, Thomas D. Moore (Barbara Leser) of Raleigh, NC, John R. Moore (Maelynn), Lansdale PA, and Robert J. Moore (Heidi) Fairport, NY; two daughters Catherine A. Moore Gulock (Jeff) of Ballston Lake and Mary Ann Proper (David) of Coxsackie; one sister Mary Ann Langan of Scranton PA and one brother Daniel R. Murphy, Peckville PA; Ten grandchildren: Sarah Proper, Maegan Moore, Emily Proper, Robert Moore, Jeffrey Moore, Madeline Proper, Kurt Moore, Kristen Moore, Ethan Gulock and Trevor Gulock. The family wishes to thank Sandy Vedder and the wonderful staffs of Wesley Springs-4 and Community Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Friday, Aug. 26, 2011 at the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs by the Rev. Matthew B. Wetsel, associate pastor.
