Greenfield Center, NY — M. Virginia Vradenburg, 95, died peacefully at home on Saturday, January 28, 2017.
Born August 15, 1921, in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. Swasey Sr. and Elizabeth Catherine Critcher.
In 1943, Virginia married Harry S. Vradenburg, with whom she raised seven children. He died in 2014.
Virginia is survived by her children, Janet E. Vitek of Clifton Park, Linda A. (Phil) LaRocco of Wallkill, David Vradenburg of Ft. Lauderdale, Donna M. (Steve) Carter of Hudson, NH, Karen M. Elliott of Averill Park, and Kathy C. Demers of Greenfield Center; and sisters-in-law, Suzanne Swasey of South Carolina and Shirley Anne Wakefield of Central Square. She also leaves 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and seven nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Brian J. Vradenburg, and a brother, Joseph J. Swasey Jr.
Relatives and friends may call from 9 to 11 am Tuesday, Jan. 31, at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 N Broadway, 584-5373.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am in St. Joseph's Church, 3159 Route 9N, Greenfield Center. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Saratoga (179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs); their loving care, especially that of Mary and Karen, was of great comfort to Virginia and the family and is deeply appreciated.
