IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marcella Rose
Baer
April 15, 1927 – February 28, 2016
Saratoga Springs, NY - Marcella Rose Baer, 88, died at home on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, surrounded by those who loved her.
Born on April 15, 1927 in Hazel Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late Coleman and Anna (Petro) Stasko. Marcy grew up in Hollywood, PA, moving to Saratoga Springs when she married John Baer on November 2, 1947. She lived most of her married life in Wilton, NY and then moved to Legend Lane, Ballston Spa, NY. After 30 years of service, she retired from General Foods Corporation. Marcy will be remembered for her apple pies, her love of family and her unending devotion and commitment to the care of her husband in his final years with Alzheimer's. All of us who are privileged to call "Nanny Baer" our mom, grandmother or friend will remember what a giving person she was. She opened her home to many of us in our time of need and rarely could you leave her house without having something to eat. Because of this, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to Shelters of Saratoga, PO Box 3089, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, John Baer and twelve brothers and sisters. Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie (Joseph) Mayer, Cathy Neville and Joann (Robert Loveridge) Beach; 8 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses, caregivers and residents of the Home of the Good Shepherd, Malta, NY for the wonderful care, love and friendship she received during her time with them.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373).
Funeral services will be conducted at 10am Thursday, March 3, 2016 in St. Joseph's Church, 3159 Route 9N, Greenfield Center, by Deacon Gary R. Picher, Sr., Parish Life Director. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave.
