New Smyrna Beach, FL - Marcia J. Van Ness, 72, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Halifax Health Medical Center, Daytona Beach FL. Mrs. Van Ness was born in Saratoga Springs, NY and moved to Florida in 1997. She was in the hospitality business for many years including Gideon Putman, Saratoga Golf and Polo Club and retired from the Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing NY. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading, decorating and spending time with family. She is predeceased by her parents Beulah and Paul Armstrong and daughter Sheila Van Ness Shepherd. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, James C. Van Ness Jr. of New Smyrna Beach FL; son, James P. Van Ness of Saratoga Springs; four sisters, Judy Toussaint of Albany NY, Paula Williamsen of Fort Myers FL, Toni Treadway of Crystal River FL, Terrie Boisseau of Saratoga Springs; one granddaughter, Sativa Sacco of Buzzards Bay, MA; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs by Rev. Neil Draves-Arpaia. Burial will follow in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Ave., Saratoga Springs.
