Saratoga Springs, NY - Margaret Leary Powers, 90, passed away on the morning of Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Saratoga Hospital.

She was born on July 29, 1926 to the late Charles R. and Sarah (Flanagan) Leary. A lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs, Margaret graduated from St. Peter's Academy in 1944 and Mildred Elley in 1945. Following her schooling, she went to work for the G.F. Harvey Pharmaceutical Company, Spa Insurance and later Frank Lipani Agencies. A devout Catholic, she was a member of the historic Church of St. Peter and was a faithful regular communicant at daily morning Mass.

In addition to her parents, Margaret is predeceased by her first husband William P. O'Brien in 1964, her second husband, Frank Powers in 1995, and two brothers Charles R. Leary Jr. and James W. Leary Sr.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Doris Leary of Saratoga Springs; two nephews, James W. Leary Jr. (Leatrice Coonradt) of Saratoga Springs and Kevin R. Leary of Lutz, Florida; her niece Linda S. Leary (Robert "Oscar"Meyer) of Slingerlands, NY; five great-nephews, Charles F. Leary, James W. Leary, III, Christopher S. Leary, Mason Leary and Andrew J. Meyer, and two great-great nieces, Erin M. Leary and Elizabeth K. Leary.

Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Monday, Jan. 23, 2017 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017 in the historic Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway, by the Rev. Thomas H. Chevalier, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Ave.
