Obituary

Ballston Spa- Margaret Ann (Peggy) Stewart passed away Thursday May 18, 2017 after a long illness.  She was 83.

Born on July 24, 1933 in Cohoes, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rosalie (Dickey) Walrath. Peggy graduated from Scotia Glenville High School and loved to sew, bake, go camping with all the family, work in her flower garden, but her greatest joy was her family, especially her husband, children and grandchildren. Peggy was married to the late Anthony C. Stewart Jr. for 53 years until his passing in 2005.

In addition to her parents and husband, Peggy was also predeceased by her daughter Karen S. Noble and her brother Scott Walrath.

She is survived by her children; Deborah R. Braley of Ballston Spa, Nancy L. Crandall of Ballston Spa, Charles A. Stewart (Melinda) of Middle Grove, Susan M. Kellogg (Philip) of South Glens Falls and Brian D. Stewart (Lana) of Easton; grandsons Richard L. Crandall III (Teresa) of Waterford and Eric A. Crandall of Ballston Spa; granddaughter Kairyn M. Stewart of Easton; great grandchildren Richie, Adam and Carlee Crandall of Waterford; siblings, Charles Walrath of Georgia, Earl Walrath of Massachusetts, Robert Walrath of Oklahoma, Walter Walrath  of North Carolina and Marion Walrath Ford of Troy, NY.

The family would like to thank the nurses, aides and staff from the former Saratoga Hospital Nursing Facility for their dedication and kindness. They would also like to express their deepest thanks and appreciation to The Pines Nursing and Rehab Facility, Warren St., Glens Falls and their wonderful staff for their outstanding care and compassion for their mother and family.  They made her last days comfortable and safe.

At Margaret's request there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway Saratoga Springs, (584-5373).  Graveside services will be private in the family plot at Maplewood Cemetery, corner of Weible Ave. and Loudon Rd., Saratoga Springs.

In lieu of flower, memorial donations may be made to the Upstate NY Chapter of MS Society, 1650 South Ave Ste 100, Rochester, NY 14620 or to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Dr. Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
