Rome, NY - Marguerite L. Peg Hewitt, 87, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Health Care Facility with her loving family at her side. She was born on August 27, 1924, in Saratoga Springs, the daughter of Martin and Margaret Zetterstrom Eckert. She was a graduate of Saratoga Springs High School and Eastman School of Business. On May 1, 1948, Peg was united in marriage to the love of her life, Hollis J. Holly Hewitt, in Saratoga Springs, NY. They shared 27 wonderful years together before he passed away on July 1, 1975. Peg was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Rome. She participated for many years in the Happy Time Girls Bowling League and was also a member of the Lake Delta Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. Peg enjoyed spending summers with her family at their camp in Lake Pleasant. She also was blessed to take a trip around the world and traveled across country when her daughters were children. Peg was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose life revolved around her family. She will be sadly missed by her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marta Hewitt, of Guilderland, Holly and Brian Miller, of Rome, and Meg and Jeff Manke, of Ogdensburg; beloved grandchildren, Kelly, Sarah, and Matthew Miller, and Kyle Manke; her sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Jon LeChevet, of Edmeston, NY and several nieces, nephews and special cousins. The family expresses their heartfelt thanks to the staff at the RHCF of the Rome Memorial Hospital for their compassionate and loving care of Peg. Special thanks to her friends, especially Jean Smith for her loving support, friendship, and prayers. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
