Obituary

Gansevoort, NY - Maria C. Boccio, beloved mother and grandmother, died Wednesday (April 8, 2009) at Saratoga Hospital. She was 56. Born on Dec. 22, 1952 to Carmelo and Ann (Marinello) Covais of Hudson, FL, she graduated from Bishop McDonald High School in her hometown of Brooklyn, NY. She married Nicholas M. Boccio on July 1, 1973 and lived in Albany where daughter Nicole was born in 1977. They then moved to Staten Island in 1978 where son Andrew was born in 1980. The family subsequently moved to Loudonville, NY in 1988 where Maria worked at Eastern Contractors and the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. Maria loved reading and doing arts and crafts with her granddaughter Alexa. Survivors include her parents, husband Nicholas, her loving children, daughter Nicole Cate and her husband Christopher of Ballston Spa; her son, Andrew Boccio of Hoboken,NJ; one granddaughter Alexa Cate, as well as her sisters, Margie Barbarino and her husband Frank of Staten Island and Deborah Tardo of Massapequa, NY; aunts, uncles and several nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by all for her kind and gentle nature, resiliency and deep devotion to her family and she will be immensely missed. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Friday (April 10, 2009) at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway (584-5373). A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30am Saturday at the funeral home, by the Rev'd John D. Kirwin. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Muscular Dystrophy Association District Office, 1 Marcus Blvd, Albany, New York 12205.
