Marianne Tynan

Marianne Tynan passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026 after a lifetime of service to her family, friends and community. She was known as a great friend, speaking from the heart, and always being excited to try new things. She was the real deal.

Marianne was born in Worcester, MA on December 5th, 1941 to Marietta (Hurley) and Vincent Tynan. She studied at Emmanuel College and spent many years teaching from South Boston to Mexico where she mentored countless young people. Later in life, she served as a hospice Chaplain in Saratoga Springs, NY.

She was an avid reader and loved sports, especially the Olympics and enjoyed hearing about the athletic activities of her great nieces and nephew. There would often be a baseball game on the television at home with a detailed summary of the game to follow. Marianne also loved the animals she adopted over the years. She would gravitate to the cat no one else would take and provide loving attention and companionship. She picked up camping while in her 70’s and she enjoyed being in the outdoors. If she couldn’t travel to camp, she would set up on her “slabio” behind her house.

Marianne had so many wonderful and supportive friends, including Bill W, many of whom would drive her to appointments, care for her home or just sit and talk. She valued her friends and their friendship so much.

Marianne was predeceased by her brother, Vincent J Tynan, and nephew Michael Tynan. She leaves three great nieces - Marietta, Isabella and Alice, two great nephews – Benjamin and Connor, one niece – Kaitlyn and one nephew – Patrick.

There will be a Celebration of Life on September 27, 2026 at Saratoga State Park at 2PM at the Ferndell Pavilion.

Children’s books will be collected at her Celebration of Life and donated to area hospitals.
