Marilyn Rae Pitts, 89, passed away December 6, 2023, after battling multiple failures related to her cancer and its treatments.
Born in Albany on November 18, 1934, the daughter of the late Raymond and Anne Logan. Marilyn graduated from Albany High School and was employed with the State of New York and the County of Saratoga in her life. Marilyn retired in 1999.
Marilyn was passionate about her family and her home; and celebrating holidays and birthdays. Her love and devotion for family will be forever cherished. Vacation time in Cape Cod is especially memorable. Marilyn was a lover of nature. She so enjoyed watching the birds that she fed. Marilyn loved to grow flowers and plants. In her spare time, she loved to read.
Marilyn's survivors include their six children; Brian (Debbie), of Duluth, GA, Pamela Burger, (Charles), of Albany, Theresa Chotkowski, (Robert), of Mercerville, NJ, Donna Carr, (David), of Saratoga Springs, Sharon Pitts, (Mark Abodeely), of Queensbury, and Christopher
(Suzanne), of Ballston Spa. Marilyn is also survived by her eleven grandchildren; RaeAnne Grover, (Jason), Laura Osborne, (Nicholas), Marlene Hopewell, (Richard), Jason Burger, Logan Finegan, (James), Matthew Chotkowski (Amanda), David Pitts, Tyler Carr (Ian), Madison Carr, and Kaitlyn and Abigail Pitts, as well as nine great grandchildren, Jackson, Tyler, Riley, William, Noah Rae, Emmett, Owen, Ainsley and Cole. In addition there are many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn is predeceased by her husband, George of sixty-five years; her sister, Dorthea Rooney, and her brother, Raymond Logan.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Saratoga Hospital for the care they provided for Marilyn.
Loved ones are invited to gather at 10:00 am on December 18, 2023, at the historic Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway Saratoga Springs with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 11:00 am.
Burial will be private at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marilyn's name to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
