Saratoga Springs, NY Marion J. Rod Rodriguez passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Saratoga Hospital. He was 86. Born on January 11, 1926 in Stillwater, NY, Rod was the son of the late Marion and Charlotte Smodell Rodriguez. He served in the US Army from 1944 to 1946 and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Rod worked for 29 years for Metropolitan Insurance, 13 years as a rural carrier for the US Postal Service in Porter Corners and 36 years for the Saratoga Raceway. He was a life member of the Saratoga-Wilton Elks 161 and American Legion Adirondack Post 70. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Jean Lynn Garant. Survivors include his wife, Rita (Welch) Rodriguez of Saratoga Springs; two grandchildren, Laura MacMillan of Ballston Spa and Daniel Garant of Saratoga Springs; one sister, Sally (Leisetta) Bochette and two nephews, Bruce and David Bochette. Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Monday, May 7, 2012 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). Funeral services will be 11am Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Ave., Saratoga Springs.
