IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mark Joseph
Voellm
April 21, 1965 – January 29, 2025
Mark Joseph Voellm, born on April 21, 1965, in Troy, NY, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, in Boston, MA, at the age of 59.
Mark grew up in Averill Park, NY, and after living in various places during his young adulthood, he returned to the area to raise his family. He earned his bachelor's degree from The State University of New York at Plattsburgh before proudly and courageously serving in the United States Navy for seven years as a Navy SEAL. Following his military service, Mark dedicated 23 honorable years as a Deputy United States Marshal.
In 1992, Mark married the love of his life, Susan "Sue" Voellm. Together they shared a devoted marriage of 33 years and raised two daughters, Carrianna (Shawn) Knowlton and Carli (Joey Vooris) Voellm. Mark was an overjoyed grandfather to his one-year-old granddaughter, Charlotte Knowlton. He is also survived by his brothers, Eric (Ranita) Voellm and Frederick (Catalina) Voellm; many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his cherished cat, Mavi. Mark was predeceased by his parents, Carolyn and Frederick Voellm, and his sisters, Karen Voellm and Lynn (Steve) King.
Mark will be remembered for his larger-than-life laugh and smile, unwavering loyalty to family and friends, and dedication to his country. He had a passion for fitness, swimming, sunny days at the beach, board games, scary movies, and cheering for the NY Jets and Yankees. Above all, his most treasured time was any amount of time he spent with his wife and their daughters. His love for animals and joy in being surrounded by family brought him everlasting happiness.
Mark made an impact on all of those around him, and everyone who knew Mark, even if just briefly, has stories of cherished memories with him. Please share those stories with each other and with Mark's family, as we know that Mark's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
