Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY- Mark Yocono died unexpectedly but peacefully in his home in Saratoga Springs on May 17, 2022 at the age of 61.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Maria, of 34 years, and children Nicholas (Mandy) Yocono, Thomas (Ashley) Yocono, grandson Lucas, sister Barbara (Jack) Abravaya, and nieces Julianna and Krista Abravaya. He is also survived by numerous loving parents, brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Jean Yocono.

Mark was born on May 2, 1961 and grew up in Valley Stream, New York. He and Maria were college sweethearts at Stony Brook University and married in 1987. Mark received his medical degree the same year from New York Medical College and was a resident in Internal Medicine at St Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. He then completed a fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of Connecticut Health Center. His two sons Nicholas and Thomas were born in 1990 and 1993 and were raised in Clifton Park, New York. He joined The Endocrine Group in Albany and was integral in the success of the practice until his retirement in 2020.

Mark was a family man who always had time to play with and teach his children despite his busy job. Mark loved the outdoors, animals and nature. He was an avid tennis player, skier, and mountain biker. It was often joked that if you couldn't find Mark, he was likely playing tennis. His family was always his priority and nothing made him happier than spending time with them. He was protective yet gentle and loving. The birth of his first grandchild Lucas filled him with joy. He showed devotion to Maria, Nick and Tom and his whole family in a quiet steadfast way through his actions in the ways that matter most.

The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, May 22 from 9am to 12pm at the William J. Burke & Sons/ Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY.

In remembrance of Mark's life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Whale and Dolphin Conservation Inc.: https://us.whales.org/
