IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Alice
Hibbert
June 27, 1926 – December 5, 2022
Mary Alice (Hill) Hibbert, 96, of Centereach, Long Island, formerly of Jumel Place, Saratoga Springs, died peacefully on Monday, December 5, 2022 at Stony Brook University Hospital on Long Island, following several courageous struggles with leukemia.
Born on June 27, 1926 in East Worcester, NY, she was a daughter of the late Fenton and Lillian (Wellman) Hill. On January 17, 1943, she married Hugh Roger Hibbert who was serving in the United States Army Air Force, traveling with him to several bases around the country. After his service was complete, they settled first in Cobleskill, NY, then moving to Saratoga Springs in 1947, living on Catherine Street until 1959, then moving to Jumel Place. Following her husband's death in 2002, she remained at Jumel Place until 2017, moving then to Centereach.
Mary devoted her life to caring for her family and her home as her children were growing. She enjoyed cooking, especially baking, and loved decorating for Christmas and making sure there were lots of gifts under the tree. She also cared for the homes of other families in the community. Later she joined her husband Roger as a school bus driver for the Saratoga Springs School District, showing her love for children in a new way.
She loved to play cards, especially pinochle and canasta, bowling, and was a super New York Yankees fan. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, and her faith deepened as life went on. Daily Bible reading and prayer (particularly for her ever-expanding family) were an important part of her spiritual life.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, her parents, her three brothers (Delmar, Kenneth, and Arthur), her two sisters (Ruth and Laura), and her son-in-law David Bolotine.
She is survived by her five children, Sharon Bolotine, of Centereach, L.I., NY; Rev. Richard Hibbert and his wife, MaryBeth, both of Burlington, VT; Nancy Flynn and her husband Dennis, both of Buskirk, NY; Patricia Mathews and her husband Roger, both of Sanford, Maine; and Paul Hibbert and his wife Sandra, both of Broken Arrow, OK; eleven grandchildren, Michael, Cathy, Amy, Emily, Seth, Shaun, Angela, Doug, Mary Helen, Brian and Amanda; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 7pm Tuesday, December 27 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes at 628 North Broadway (518-584-5373).
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, December 28 in the Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church at the corner of Fifth Ave. and Henning Road.
