Saratoga Springs, NY - Mary (DeVenuto) Kaz, formerly of Roebling, NJ, passed away Friday ( Oct. 3, 2008) at Saratoga Hospital. She was 89. Born on June 11, 1919 in Santo Spirito, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Francesca (Galliano) DeVenuto. She is the widow of the late Joseph Kaz, who passed away in 1957. Mary was director of the Florence Housing Authority in New Jersey. She was also a past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Senior Citizens and a communicant of the Holy Assumption Church in Roebling, NJ. Survivors include her sons, Joseph and his wife Elaine Kaz of Saratoga Springs, Nicholas and his wife Corinne Kaz and children Joshua and Katie of Maple Shade, NJ; a brother in law; Charles Detterer of Roebling; and two nieces, Linda Lebak and Kathy Schaffery both of Southern New Jersey. In addition to her husband Joseph, she is predeceased by her sister, Delores Detterer and brother, Arkie DeVenuto. Relatives and friends may call from 8 to 9am Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008 in Our Lady's Chapel in the parish center of St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9am in St. Clement's Church. Burial will be in the family plot at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, New York 12211.
