Obituary

Saratoga Springs, NY - Mary Agnes (McMahon) Reuss, of Steele Street, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, Aug. 6, 2011 at Albany Medical Center. She was 86. Born on Oct. 15, 1924 in Saratoga Springs, NY, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Mary Cogan McMahon and a 1942 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School. She married Leonard Reuss II, of Schenectady, NY on Aug. 11, 1946 at St. Peter's Church in Saratoga Springs. A lover of bridge, languages and travel, she enjoyed living in Italy, Brazil and Puerto Rico. One of her favorite memories was the day she had breakfast in South America, lunch in Africa and diner in Europe. Mary was the life of the party wherever she went and rightly earned the nickname "Dancing Queen." In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leonard G. Reuss, who died in 1998 and her sister, Jeanne Coseo who died in 2009. Survivors include brothers, Edward and John McMahon and sisters, Elizabeth McCarthy, Margaret (Robert) Marks, Kathryn (Donald) Coons of Saratoga Springs; daughter Mary Lynne Reuss of Corrales, NM; sons, Leonard (Gena) Reuss, III of Memphis, TN, Ronald (Nanette) Reuss of Bradenton, FL; several cousins, nieces and nephews; grandchildren, Emma, Carl, Leonard IV, Megan and Wendy Reuss and the memory of a long line of golden retrievers named Clyde. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2pm Tuesday in the Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway. Private interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Cleveland, NY. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the friends and neighbors who gave her so much joy, especially Patsy Harris and Father Esposito for their many years of friendship. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway 518-584-5373.
