Saratoga Springs, NY - Mary Ellen Nichols, 71, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Schenectady, NY on February 24, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Anna Mae Olszewski. Mary Ellen was also predeceased by her brother, Philip Olszewski. Mary Ellen was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed shopping and spending time floating in her pool. She, along with her sister Lauretta, owned and ran Anthony's Diner on Church Street. She also owned and ran Neutral Corners bar in the 1970s. Mary Ellen is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jack Nichols; her sister Lauretta Fitzgerald of Greenfield; her children Anthony, Michael (Jennifer), Vincent (Ginger), J.J. (Carrie); grandsons Vincent and Jordan; granddaughters Erika, Sutton, Johnna and Kimmie; great grandson Jaelyn; and several nieces and nephews all of Saratoga Springs. A private service for family will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2013 from 1 to 2 p.m. with a service at 2 p.m. at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway.
