Obituary

Glens Falls - Melissa Anne Trombley-Prosch (née Mohler) died on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 in Glens Falls, NY. Born May 9, 1951 to John Mohler and Mary Heischman Mohler Lea, she was raised in Saratoga Springs, NY with her siblings Mark, Karen, Karl, Laura, and Joshua.

As her mother was a close friend of Lena Spencer, Melissa spent her after-school hours washing dishes and enjoying the music at Caffe Lena. It was there that she celebrated her marriage to Richard Trombley in 1968. Melissa and Richard were married for 37 years and welcomed four children together: Matthew Trombley, Mariah Trombley, Raissa Trombley Robinson, and Leah Trombley Prescott. As her children married and the family expanded, so did her heart, welcoming everyone into the fold, including Jessica Jenks, Amanda Trombley, Dale Robinson, and Jarrod Prescott. Melissa was overjoyed to find love again and a build a life with Michael Prosch that also included his daughter, Armaiti Prosch. Melissa and Michael were married in 2011 and had thirteen wonderful years together.

Her interest in the history of the local area was palpable. In 1985, a visit to Grant Cottage in Wilton, NY with her daughter Raissa ignited a fierce determination to save the historic site from closure and see it thrive over the following decades as a founding member of The Friends of Ulysses S. Grant Cottage, re-enactor, historic housekeeper, and Grant Historian. Like Ulysses S. Grant himself, Melissa was able to complete her manuscript about Grant's time at the cottage before her passing. In addition to raising her family, caring for her grandchildren, serving on the PTA, and advocating for Grant Cottage, Melissa was a selfless caregiver to countless people; as an LPN in the Snuggery at Glens Falls Hospital, a case manager for Living Resources, and childcare provider for family and friends. Melissa was always there for anyone in need of her time, handmade blankets, mittens, and hats, or just an extra dose of love. Her compassion, support, and encouragement knew no bounds. She blessed everyone with her sharp wit and infectious sense of humor. Other passions included intellectual pursuits, a strong advocacy for reading and education, baking, holiday decorating, motorcycle riding, music, attending the ballet, sewing, knitting, gardening, and travel, particularly to historic sites. As a mother, and Grammie to her beloved grandchildren, she instilled the importance of character, family, and appropriate attire for any occasion.

Melissa is sorely missed by Michael, Richard, her children and their spouses, nieces and nephews including Michael Migliozzi and Mary Migliozzi Chambers, her grandchildren Trinity Horne and her husband Hunter, Turner Trombley, Jacob Trombley, Caden Trombley, Delilah Robinson, Jase Prescott, Courtney Green, Richard Green, Dagny Winberg, and Julian and Arlo Prosch-Kim and great- grandchildren Thomas Hill, Jr., Kingston and Bentley Ditoro, and Summer Green, as well as countless extended family members and friends. Melissa is survived by her brothers, Mark Mohler and Joshua Lea, and sister, Karen Mazurkiewicz. She was predeceased by her daughter, Mariah (d. 1979), brother, Karl Mohler, and sister, Laura Berry.

In accordance with her wishes, family and friends will hold a private memorial gathering.
