IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mia Elizabeth
Pfitzer
September 29, 1958 – February 24, 2018
Mia (Mary Elizabeth McCrossan) Pfitzer, a devoted wife and mother and career radiologist from Wilton, NY, died unexpectedly following a brain aneurysm in Boston, MA on February 24, 2018 at the age of 59.
Mia is survived by her husband Gregory M. Pfitzer; her children, son and daughter-in-law Michael C. and Caitlin F. Pfitzer of Medford, MA, and daughter Sally J. Pfitzer of Medford, MA; her brother and sister-in-law Francis X. and Patricia K. McCrossan of North Kingstown, RI; her brother and sister-in-law Stephen C. and Kathleen C. McCrossan of Medfield, MA; and many beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws, and family friends. She is predeceased by her parents Mary Elizabeth and Charles Reid McCrossan.
Mia was born in Salem, MA on September 29, 1958. She graduated with an associate's degree in radiologic science from Northeastern University (Boston, MA) in 1980. She was a dedicated x-ray technician in the Saratoga Springs, NY and Boston, MA areas. For the past thirty years, she had worked for various iterations of the company now known as OrthoNY in Saratoga Springs and Malta where she was beloved by the doctors, staff, and patients.
Mia was a community leader, having served for 18 years on the Saratoga Springs City School District Board of Education, co-founding and working as a music director and audio technician with the Saratoga Springs High School Drama Club, and volunteering on countless other committees and organizations designed to improve the lives of children in our schools. She was a talented amateur french horn player and an active member of the Ballston Spa Community Band. She loved sharing her music with others.
Mia had a brilliant and memorable personality that shone through in all circumstances. Her many friends and professional colleagues were drawn to her fun-loving nature, enthusiasm, and unparalleled ability to get things done. She loved the Boston metro area where she grew up, and it was impossible to miss her vibrant Boston accent, in which she took great pride. Most of all, she loved her family and friends, and would travel any lengths to show up for important moments and demonstrate her special brand of loving support. She would never miss an opportunity to tell others about her pride in those she loved, and all were aware just how much and how genuinely she cared for them.
