Michael L. Traver, 69, of Granville, NY, passed away on April 25, 2023 after a long illness, surrounded by family. His family and friends are deeply saddened by his passing, but share great memories of his life.
Mike was born on March 12, 1954 to Leroy and Helen Traver, in Saratoga Springs, NY. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Donnah Traver; his children Patrick Traver and his wife Krissy, Jessica Christian and her husband Scott; his step-daughters Shalene Withrow and her husband Ron, and Denise Lucarelli and her husband Steve; his siblings Catherine, Mary, Mark, Patrick, Joseph (Red), Thomas (Newt), Timothy, David, John and their spouses; his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also remembered by his friends and fellow firemen from the Saratoga Springs Fire Department, friends from the Goodfellows Hunting Club, his camping group, the horse club WCDAA, and Knights of Columbus, amongst many others not named but equally appreciated. Mike was predeceased by his parents Leroy Newton Traver Jr. and Helen Ribley Traver, his sister Mary Patricia Traver, as well as his grandparents Leroy Newton Traver Sr. and Mary Engel Traver and Harry and Lillian Ribley.
Mike grew up and lived in Saratoga Springs, and then Porters Corner for many years. He graduated from St. Peters Academy, and following high school attended Cobleskill Community College. He served as a firefighter and paramedic with the Saratoga Springs Fire Department, and as a butcher for Price Chopper for many years. He and Donnah then moved to Granville, NY where they lived for the last 24 years.
As well as being a husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother, Mike was also honored to serve as a Fireman with the Saratoga Springs Fire Department. As an avid hunter, Mike was at home in the outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting season and the camaraderie with his hunting club buddies, as well as camping with Donnah and their camping group. At home, he enjoyed the years he spent raising German Shepherds with Donnah, working draft horses with the WCDAA, and taking the grandchildren for rides on the ATV. In recent years he could be found at home gardening, riding on his tractor, and puttering around the house.
Mike was a stoic patriarch who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will be forever missed. Thank you to Albany Medical Center ICU Staff for taking care of Mike and his family throughout his lengthy hospital stay.
Services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons /Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
