Rexford-Myrtle Irene Boice, 90, of Coburg Village, Rexford, NY, passed away, July 28 2016, at Saratoga Hospital.
Born, August 5th, 1925 in Poughkeepsie, NY, the daughter of parents Ernest Van Devens and Amy Adele Cookingham. She was the beloved wife of Ralph Boice, who passed away August 29th, 2014. She married Ralph on September 18, 1942.
Myrtle traveled the country by Ralph's side with their young son, Ernie, while Ralph was in the Air Force. After the service they moved back to Hyde Park, where Ralph worked for IBM, and later they founded Boice Gages in Hyde Park NY.
After selling the company, they became farmers at the family farm in Livingston, NY, breeding and racing standard breed horses. After selling the farm Ralph and Myrtle moved to Lake George.
Finally retiring for the third time and living in and traveling across the country in their motor home, they finally settled in Naples FL. Until moving back to NY in July 2014.
Myrtle is survived by her sons, R. Ernest Boice, his wife, Karen (Todd) Boice and Todd Boice, his wife, Nancy (Bramkamp) Boice; grandchildren, Peter, Sara, Jonathan, Hans, Heidi, Heather, Holly, Jason, Daniel; and 13 great-grandchildren. Also survived by her sister, Anita Corey; and brother, Kenneth Devens; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by her son, David Boice, who passed away August 5th 2016.
Myrtle enjoyed cooking, crafts, and was a accomplished artist, as well as a avid pinochle player.
Myrtle was devoted to her husband, Ralph, for 71 years and 11 Months. Their family was the most important part of their lives. We will all miss them. All who knew Myrtle and Ralph were fortunate to have them become part of their lives.
