Saratoga Springs - Nancy Elizabeth Moran, age 76, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born in Troy, NY on August 5th 1947.
Nancy is survived by her husband, of 51 years Michael D. Moran; brother Thomas Michael Doring Sr. (wife Bernice); sons Matthew M. Moran (wife Kim) and Brian P. Moran (wife Alanna); and grandchildren Kayleen and Brenna Moran.
She is predeceased by her father, Frederick John Doring Sr.; mother, Annamae Catherine Phoenix Doring; and elder brother, Frederick John Doring Jr. Nancy attended Catholic Central High School and graduated in 1965. She went onto pursue a Bachelor's degree in Education and graduated from Russell Sage College in 1969.
Nancy later went on to earn a Master's degree in Education from the College of Saint Rose in 1974. Nancy relocated to the city of Saratoga Springs where she began her career as a First grade and Kindergarten teacher for the Saratoga Springs City School District. It was in Saratoga that she met her future husband Michael Moran who was serving in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. The two were married on November 25th, 1972. The two became three in 1975 with the birth of their first son Matthew. A few years later their family grew with the birth of their second son Brian in 1978.
Nancy was passionate about her family, her profession as a teacher, her community, and her church. She took great pride in decorating their home in Saratoga for family gatherings and holidays. She created a warm space where all felt welcome and part of something special. Nancy put the same energy of love into her calling as a teacher. She sculpted countless young students with her love and guidance and many refer to Mrs. Moran as "their favorite."
Nancy was very enthusiastic about her stamping and cardmaking. She attended gatherings with friends who shared her hobby to exchange cardmaking materials and view their latest creations. Nancy took the time to create custom cards for family and friends that were crafted with love and thoughtfulness.
Nancy was also a devout Catholic attending weekly mass at St. Clement's Church and was an active member of the church community.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 3:00 to 6:00pm on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home at 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (518-584-5373).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am Friday, December 15, 2023 St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. A burial will be held at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd. Schuylerville, NY following the Mass.
