Saratoga Springs, NY - Nicholas J. Filippone died suddenly Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 in Olympia, Washington. Born May 9, 1988 he was the son of Wanda Thompson-Burling of Saratoga Springs and the late Thomas S. Thompson and Daniel A. Filippone of Glen Cove. Nicholas was a 2006 graduate of Doane Stuart and a junior at Hartwick College. His passions included music, boating, snowmobiling, nature and animals. Along with his father, Nicholas is predeceased by his grandfather Stanislaus Jania. In addition to his mother, Nicholas is survived by his stepfather, Charles L. Burling of Saratoga Springs; two brothers, Elia D. Filippone (Stacey) of Reading, PA and Daniel K. Filippone (Danielle) of Mechanicville; grandmothers Opal M. Jania of Farmville, VA and Emily R. Thompson of Saratoga Springs; aunts and uncles Deana and David Bennett of Farmville, VA and Chris and Jim Bean of Ballston Spa; cousins Jamie and Justin Womack, Alicia Bean and Kevin Jania and many extended family and friends. Relatives and friends may call from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm Friday, Oct.10, 2008 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). Funeral services will be held Saturday, 10am at the funeral home.
