Saratoga Springs - Nicholas J. Sabino passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the Berkshire Medical Center Hospital in Pittsfield, MA following a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 61. Nicholas was born on December 27, 1947 in Saratoga Springs, son of the late Bartholomew and Margaret (Smaldone) Sabino. A 1965 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School, Mr. Sabino became a cobbler and ran Bart's Shoe Hospital which was founded by his father in 1922. Nicholas owned and operated the family business until its closing in 2005 due to illness. A devoted Saratogian, he enjoyed the history and heritage of his hometown. Above all he was a family man dedicated to his wife and children. He was a member and past president of the Princepessa Eleni Club. Survivors include his wife of 17 years the former Annette Lubochinski of Gansevoort, three sons, Christopher ( fianc Joanna) Erwin of Milton, Jason (Stephanie) Erwin of Wilton and Joshua ( fianc Nadia) Erwin of Ann Arbor, Michigan; one sister, Peggy Fazio of Saratoga Springs as well as several nieces and nephews. Nicholas is predeceased by his sisters, Patricia and Patsy and his brothers, Bart Jr., Nicholas and Anthony. A graveside service will be held in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery at 9:30am on Saturday, October 31, 2009. There will be no calling hours.
