IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nola Alma
Parent
December 15, 1951 – February 2, 2025
Nola A. Parent of Saratoga Springs passed away on February 2, 2025, surrounded by loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Nola was born on December 15, 1951, to Theodore and Jane Parent. She graduated from Shenendehowa Central School in 1971. Her son, Jesse, was born in 1987, and she took great pride in being his loving mother.
Nola worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant specializing in senior care in both skilled nursing facilities and private care until a disability led to a change in careers. She went on to work for New York State Department of Labor. After her retirement, she lovingly cared for her mother, who suffered from many health issues.
Nola enjoyed tending her flower gardens and always kept her house in pristine order. Among other favorite things were her extensive collection of holiday decorations, singer Mick Jagger, and the ocean. She recently enjoyed a family vacation to Newport, RI where she soaked up the sun and waves (and never laughed so hard in her life).
Nola loved being with her grandnephew and niece, Brody and Olivia. Together they devoured many Boston cream donuts and played countless games of Monopoly. They also took part in an annual tradition of frosting holiday cookies with her sister Connie. Nola took special joy in introducing the children to the teeth-staining abilities of certain frosting colors—perhaps as revenge for the many times they guilted her into selling them Boardwalk or Park Place.
She also loved seeing her newest grandnephews, Cameron, Carter and Cassius. Nola loved their silly antics and vibrant energy (and undoubtedly would've let them cheat at board games too, when the time came).
Nola was predeceased by her mother, Jane Parent née Ceremuga, and her brother, Randall Parent. She is survived by her son, Jesse Parent, her father, Theodore Parent Sr., her siblings Theodore (Erin) Parent Jr., Connie (Paul) Nowakowski, Gary Parent, Sharon Parent, her nephews Dennis (Jason Nastke) Brown, Shaun (Kristen) Parent, and Andrew Parent, her niece Jennifer (Joseph) Dugan, her grandnephews Brody Dugan, Cameron, Carter, and Cassius Parent, and her grandniece Olivia Dugan.
A celebration of life will take place on a beautiful day this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Community Hospice Saratoga.
