Gansevoort, NY- Otis H. Groff, 73, passed away on October 2, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Otis was born on February 22, 1952, a lifelong resident of Saratoga Springs, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Thelma Groff, and a brother-in-law, Carl Schober.

Otis graduated from Saratoga Springs High School, Class of 1970 and continued his education, becoming a Master Carpenter in the Carpenter's Union.  Not one to sit still, Otis then became a proud Firefighter with the Saratoga Springs Fire Department, Local 343, retiring in 1999.

Otis married Carol, the love of his life, in January of 1974, and two daughters followed.  Family and friends were the most important thing to Otis. You could call on him for anything, and he either had the perfect solution, or a tool to fix it.  He was a simple man, happy with a sunny round of golf, a hot cup of coffee with his pals at Stewart's, tinkering with his 1970 Grand Prix (or anything in his garage for that matter), chasing a big buck, or rocking out to some tunes on his motorcycle, with Carol on the back. He was even known to play a mean game of kickball with his grandsons now and again.

Those he left behind will miss him dearly.  His loving wife, Carol; his daughters Alicia (Mark), Mandy (Bill); grandsons Otis (Abby), Cole, and Brady; brother Howard (Cindy); sisters Peggy, and Debbie (Tracy); many adoring nieces and nephews; and so many lifelong friends that will forever remember that Otis was always right.

Friends and family are invited to call on Wednesday, October 8, from 3-7 pm at the William J Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY, 12866.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 9, at 11 am.  Graveside service will be held following the funeral at Greenridge Cemetery, 17 Greenridge Place, Saratoga Springs, NY, 12866.

A gathering to tell Otis stories will follow the graveside service at the Elks Club, 1 Elks Lane, Saratoga Springs, ending with a final toast at Quarters Bar, 183 Ballston Ave, Saratoga Springs.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Otis to Operation Adopt A Soldier , or The Community Hospice .
