Saratoga Springs, NY – Patricia A. Duval is finally at peace. She passed away on December 26, 2018 after a three year battle with cancer. Patti was born on May 6, 1952 in Saratoga Springs, NY, where she grew up and always had a deep connection. Her roots reach back through her father and paternal grandmother's heritage, who were Abenaki Native Americans and lived in Indian Encampments in Saratoga Springs in the early 20th century.

Patti attended Caroline Street Elementary School, Number 4 School, and St. Peter's High School. After graduating she continued her education until she became a registered nurse. She began her professional nursing career as a RN at Glens Falls Hospital before taking a leap to Boston, where she worked as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Nurse at Boston's Children's Hospital. Later, she served as a charge nurse at the Brigham and Women's Hospital NICU.

While living in Boston she gained lifelong friendships and met her husband Monte Franke, whom she married in 1983 in Saratoga Springs. Ten years later in 1993 their daughter Sara came into their world, and in 1996 they returned to Saratoga Springs to focus on family, re-establish old friendships, and make new friends.

Patti was a "jack of all trades." She was a talented artist, an avid gardener, and an incredible chef with a famous sense of humor. She enjoyed masters rowing with Saratoga Rowing Association and spent time showing artwork and taking classes at Saratoga Arts.

An inspiration to Sara, Patti was a devoted wife, mother, and friend who always served as her guiding light.  Most important to Patti was spending time with Monte and Sara. She spent summers on Martha's Vineyard, where Lambert's Cove Beach served as a home and playground, spending hours swimming in the ocean.

Patti is predeceased by her parents Louis and Irene Duval.  Along with her husband Monte and daughter Sara Franke (Portland, Maine), Patti is survived by her sister Linda Coon (Saratoga Springs, NY), two nephews David Coon (Joppa, MD) and Jeffrey Coon (Nottingham MD), and many loving in-laws and close friends.

Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday January 2, 2019 from 4pm-7pm at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff, Inc. Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY followed by a private reception, per the family's request.
