Obituary

Middle Grove, NY Patricia Murphy Gould, 68, passed away (Friday, March 23, 2012), at home, with her husband and family by her side, after a long bout with Alzheimers. Patty, as she liked to be called, was born April 21, 1943, in Livingston, NJ, the daughter of the late Edward Joseph Murphy and Vita Cordova. She was a graduate of Livingston High School and worked at Bell Laboratories in Whippany, NJ, as an administrative clerk. After a couple years, she left to pursue what she loved: the roll of full time mom, homemaker and loving spouse. Her family was everything to her and she considered nurturing and caring for them to be the most important things in her life. Her enthusiasm for living was always evident. She was an Aerobic dance instructor, a wonderful swimmer, an avid gardener and outstanding cook. She loved the outdoors and animals, in particular birds, rabbits and of course, her dog Storm. Travelling throughout the New England states was a favorite treat and one she relished. Patty loved people and enjoyed making others happy. Her warm outgoing personality, radiant smile and sense of humor would win you over quickly. She was always there to build someone up and put them at ease in her company. All of this was put to good use as a Eucharistic minister at St. Josephs Church in Greenfield Center and as a visitor to hospitals, nursing homes and the homebound. Patty is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 49 years, Thomas Gould , of Middle Grove NY; her daughter, Lauren M. Gould of Westerville, OH; her son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Crisann Gould of Bloomington, IL; her sister, Jo-ann Norris of The Villages, Florida; grandchildren, Ashley and Austin Gould, of Bloomington, IL; sister-in-law Nancy Sher of Mt. Arlington, NJ; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Charlene Gould, of Toms River, NJ; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Earl Zimmerman and Elizabeth Smith-Boivin of the Alzheimers Center at the Albany Medical Center, Saratoga Hospice, care givers, and friends and wonderful neighbors for their assistance and support. Relative and friends may call from 5 to 8pm Monday, March 26, 2012 at the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, 3159 Route 9N, Greenfield Center. Burial will follow in the family plot at Greenridge Cemetery, Lincoln Ave. Donations in loving memory of Patty may be sent to The Alzheimers Center of Albany Med., 47 New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY 12208.
