Obituary

Patricia Blondin Wagner, of Ballston Spa, NY, passed away suddenly at Saratoga Hospital on Friday, June 16th, 2023 at the age 81.

Pat was born in Troy, NY on January 2, 1942. She grew up in Watervliet, NY and graduated from Watervliet High School in 1960. She met her husband Joseph Wagner in high school and secretly eloped with him in 1962. After their parents eventually discovered their secret they had their marriage blessed in front of God, family and friends at St. Patrick's Church in Watervliet in 1963. Shortly after starting their family they put down roots in Saratoga Springs.

Pat enjoyed being a full-time mother to her four boys but once they were all in school, she embarked on a career at Saratoga Hospital that lasted 30 years. Pat loved her work in Patient & Family Services until her retirement, especially enjoying her connections with the senior community. So much so that she also decided to work part-time at The Wesley Community as she approached retirement herself. Pat also owned and operated the Cork & Bottle Liquor store on Geyser Road with Joe for many years.

Pat loved her boys who, in her eyes, could never do wrong. She spent many a weekend driving all over New England for any one of her boy's hockey games or volunteering in the snack shack at the old Excelsior Ave rink. From hockey, to soccer, to baseball and lacrosse, she was her boys' biggest fan and supporter. She adored her grandkids and loved spending time with them. In retirement she loved spending her winters in Florida with Joe and being able to regularly visit her sister Marie. In the warmer months you could always find her in her sunroom on the couch, likely watching Morning Joe, the Today Show or Jeopardy with Joe. Always close by her was one of her beloved dachshunds. Pat suffered through debilitating back pain in her last few years that prevented her from being as active and social as she used to be but loved when family and friends came to visit her.

Pat is survived by her husband and high school sweetheart, Joe, whom she was married to for over 61 years; four sons, Jeffrey(Theresa), Brian(Dena), Michael(Jennifer) and Daniel(Michele); her beloved 6 grandchildren, Spencer, Mackenzie, Ethan, Justine, Emerson and Marley; one sibling, Marie Hunter(Bob) and one special sister-in-law Shaune Toomey.

She was predeceased by her father and mother, Albert and Doris Blondin, sister Shirley Ulrich(Richard) and brother Alfred. She is also survived by nieces Sheila Peckham, Shannon Pollock, Nicole Westfall, Andrea Morgan, Erin Blondin and nephews Kevin Papa and Eric Papa and predeceased by nephew Shaun Conway.

Relatives and friends are invited to call between the hours of 5-7pm on Friday, July 14, 2023 at William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY (518-584- 5373).  A funeral home service will be conducted at 7 pm.
